A to Z April Challenge Letter M

Mammogram. I'm actually writing this post in the middle of February. About two weeks ago on a Friday evening I felt a lump, no scratch that, I found a MASS a big 'ole 8 centimeter mass.  Too late in the day to call the doctors office, so I did the most obvious thing, I planned my funeral, WHAT?!! Did you really think I was going to just not dwell on it?  HELLO! Have we just met?

Doctors appointment arrived a full 10 days after discovery.  Mammogram showed not just one large mass but a second suspicious spot. Off to get an ultra sound.  Ultra sound confirmed large mass (HELLO?!? It's the size of a golf ball..I confirmed that last week by myself!) Confirmed the small spot that I can not feel along with a third 'suspicious' spot.  Blood work, visit with doctor again and referral to a general surgeon for biopsy.  Now I'm waiting yet another week for that visit.  (Stupid holiday!! Don't they know I'm FREAKIN' out over here!?!?!)

It's February 18th. My appointment isn't until the 22nd. So NOW I'm calmer and I have convinced myself I just have really lumpy boobs. I have way too much to do to have breast cancer.

So ladies, stop reading and check the TaTa's.  If you are in a public place I will let you take a rain check till you get somewhere private.  Check them!! DO it TODAY!!!

What's odd is I do a monthly self check. I always have. This mass literally came outta no where! And in less than a month!!

Hopefully, when this posts I'll have really great news to end this post with.

I do have great news to report!!  I really do have lumpy boobies. Lumps don't necessarily mean you have cancer!! So thankfully I can report the ta ta's have........ No Cancer!!

Wooooo this is weird....... I wrote this post in February and 7:30 a.m. today (4/15/13) I'll be in surgery having the lump removed.

M is for Mammogram.

A to Z Challenge: Blog everyday except Sunday (per the rules) with my theme being what makes me happy, what inspires me and what makes me ME!!!  So be prepared for more information about me than you ever wanted to know!!
I could use a click right here! Thank you!
Today could be a pitty vote and I'm okay with that!!

  1. That's good news! What a sigh of relief. Hopping over from A to Z - thanks for commenting on my site!

  2. Glad to hear that there is not cancer. Hope everything goes well for you today and you are not in too much pain.

  3. That is really good news but how strange that today you've had the mass removed. Hope you soon start to feel better.

  4. Very good advice. I am so happy to hear that there is no cancer.
My favorite aunt, who is really more like a sister to me, is also having a lumpectomy today. She was not as fortunate, but still fortunate to catch it in time. She, like you, found her lump by doing a self exam.

  5. Congrats on the lumpy boobies!!! There's no better news than fatty lumps!! Good luck on your surgery today! Happy A-to-Z 2013! ~Angela, Whole Foods Living,

  6. Fingers crossed that everything will go well today--and I hope your health remains good. --On the bright side, you've got the funeral planned, right? Your family will thank you, in fifty years. ;)

  7. Phew! So glad to hear you have lumpy boobs and nothing more. So scary. I do give myself exams all the time in the shower. So so important.

  8. Glad to hear that the lumps weren't anything to be worried about. Exams are so important!

  9. Glad to hear it's just a lump. I check myself every month. you can never be to careful!

  10. I went through a similar episode a few years ago. All the waiting is terrifying isn't it? You would think doctors could get a woman in sooner when they find a lump. Just to put our minds at ease. Hope all goes well today

Yikes, I know several ladies that have gotten scares from "fatty lumps" (what--me, fat? nooo), good luck!

  12. I am so glad that you are ok! I didn't know you were doing the A -Z challenge! I guess it has been awhile since I have read your blog. Bad me!

  13. Praise the Lord! You are okay! Sorry I didn't see this sooner, I would have been praying for you. Now I can pray for a speedy recovery and you are back to the blogging in no time. Hugs coming your way!

  14. So happy that you were able to end this post on a positive note!

  15. What a relief! It's such a scary ordeal to just go through the what-ifs, I'm sure. Hope everything goes well through surgery!

  16. So scary, but such a good (and you made it funny) result. I'm a serious checker of the TaTas having had a couple of scares myself.

  17. Glad to hear that all's well!!

  18. Hope and Prayer everything went well with your surgery. Take it easy and don't be in a rush to get back to your normal routine too soon. :)

  19. Glad it turned out to not be Cancer! Awesome! Hope the surgery went well!

  20. Whew that was a close call. I went through the same thing a few years ago. Wishing for continued good health for you.

  21. So happy to hear the lumps were not cancerous. God bless your recovery and hopes that there is nothing more for them to find.

Speaking of mammograms, I had my first one last Friday. I was very nervous. I am now 40 and I did it the day after my birthday. Today I got a call to get more photos of the left side. Although it sounds routine I cannot help but worry a little.

    Best to you Connie!
