Tomb of the Ten Thousand Dead by L.Ron Hubbard

L Ron Hubbard Book
L. Ron Hubbard "THE master storyteller" is a very true statement!!  I'm so excited to bring you my reviews of L.Ron Hubbard's books on cd.  This is the second Galaxy's Stories From The Golden Age book I've listened too. The stories are old 1930's and 1940's but the cd's are narrated by today's stars with sound effects! This particular book was first published in October 1936.
I am addicted to books on cd. I have one going in my car at all times. I go through a LOT of books, but NEVER had I enjoyed books like I have these! Each production is packed with music and cinema-quality sound effects, putting you right into the heart of the story.
Tomb of the Ten Thousand Dead is exceptional!!! The unabridged book is almost 2 hours long. The sound effects are phenomenal!!  You can hear foot falls, engines starting, wind, everything that happens in the book comes alive! Believe me, between the narrator and the sound effects I became completely absorbed in the book.

Captain Gordon is hired to fly a team of American anthropologists to an arid mountain region now part of Pakistan bordering the Arabian Sea. All goes well until an ancient map is discovered in an old pottery jar, revealing the site of a vast treasure that Alexander the Great was bringing to Greece from his conquest of India. More than 10,000 of Alexander's soldiers and camp followers lay buried in the high desert plains along with the loot of India—hidden in a tomb never to be reclaimed.
With the map's discovery, all academic pretense is dropped. Now Gordon finds himself caught in the middle of the expedition where murder replaces scholarship as the best method to uncover the valuable hoard.
There are 2 short stories "Price of a Hat" and "Starch and Stripes" on disk 2. Again, with excellent narration and the sound effects that really pull you in.  Horses, foot steps, birds, even the plate hitting the table.

I really do understand how a family could sit around the radio excitedly listening to these stories.  They are amazing!!

The cd is $12 95.  These would be awesome gifts!!

Disclosure I received complimentary products for the purpose of my review. No other compensation was provided. The opinions are mine and 100% honest. I have not been influenced in any way.
