BOOM!!

Sooooo.......... yesterday at work Barbara and I hear a boom.  A boom that sounded more like a Boeing 747 was falling from the sky than just a boom.  Like any self respecting Californian Barbara and I head outside.  (Yes, I'm one of those crazies on 4th of July and New Years Eve that goes outside when the local idiots shoot guns into the sky! What can I say... I'm nosy!)  This was no short boom it was long and drawn out, I can't describe it well enough to convey the noise.  The only thing that comes close to the noise is a 747 that sounds like it's going to crash in your backyard.  Seemed like the entire complex came outside to find the source.  No lines in the sky, no planes anywhere to be seen.  No news reports to be found either.  ODD beyond ODD!!
That was yesterday.  Today we got answers!  Today we have drama surrounding this boom.  HA!!  I'm not going crazy! (Okay well, I mean surrounding the big boom noise anyway)
— One man was arrested Thursday following an explosion in the backyard of a home that left a gardener seriously injured, and part of Interstate 15 in Escondido will be closed Friday morning as the investigation continues, sheriff’s officials said.
The 49-year-old gardener called 911 about 12:50 p.m. and told sheriff’s dispatchers he had stepped on something that exploded, and had a puncture wound to his arm, said sheriff’s Lt. Jim Duffy. He was taken to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido.
Another gardener who was at the house at the time, Enrique Domingo, 23, said he thought his co-worker, Mario Garcia, stepped on a "bomb."
Garcia was in serious condition Thursday night, a hospital spokesman said.
The sheriff’s bomb squad, the FBI, deputies and firefighters responded to the home on Via Scott in an unincorporated area of Escondido north of El Norte Parkway and west of Interstate 15. Some neighbors were evacuated.
Sheriff’s spokeswoman Jan Caldwell said Thursday night that George Jakubec, 54, a resident of the home, was arrested on suspicion of possession of destructive material, manufacture of destructive material, and unlawful possession of explosives.
One neighbor, Lauranell Latulippe, said she heard a big blast that rattled her windows and blinds. Another neighbor, Jack Whirlow, said he has heard three or four explosions during the past two weeks in the area, but was unsure exactly where they came from.
Brian Haghighi, 24, said he has heard blasts as from an M-80 firecracker coming from his neighbor's property periodically.
Interstate 15 from El Norte to Centre City parkways will be closed from 9 a.m. to noon Friday as the investigation continues, Caldwell said.
Here is another article with more information.  Of course if I find more interesting tid bits I'll and more posts.

This is a shot of the freeway near where I work.  I'm just glad I was already at work cause this freeway would have my scream of frustrastion rival the boom from yesterday!
